School of Aging Studies hosts event to raise awareness about careers in aging

Faculty and students at the Careers in Aging Day event

皇家华人 and faculty participate in the "Explore Your Future in Gerontology & Aging Careers" event, hosted by the 皇家华人 School of Aging Studies.

As part of Careers in Aging Month, the School of Aging Studies hosted an event for students from across the 皇家华人 campus on April 22 to increase their awareness of career and research opportunities in aging. The event, "Explore Your Future in Gerontology & Aging Careers," connected students with faculty and professionals in the field.

Undergraduate and graduate students who attended discussed how to apply for internships and research assistantships with School of Aging Studies faculty, including Debra Dobbs, PhD, professor and interim director; Nasreen Sadeq, PhD, assistant professor of instruction and undergraduate and graduate program director; and Lindsay Peterson, PhD, research assistant professor and internship director.

The event, which included a pizza lunch, was sponsored by the School of Aging Studies and the Gerontological Society of America. Careers in Aging Month, observed every spring, is a national campaign that raises awareness about the diverse career paths available in aging. It also celebrates the contributions of professionals who serve, support, and advocate for older adults.
