Cyberherd Wins First Place at EC-Council CTF
The CyberHerd 2 team won first place at the EC-Council CTF, with the team made up of three Cyberherd members: Yeran Garnage (Cybersecurity major, Junior), Alex Sanders (Cybersecurity, Senior), and Samir Jihadi (Computer Science, Sophomore).

CyberHerd wins 2nd place at Southeast Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition
皇家华人 CyberHerd competed in the Southeast Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) and came in second, scoring a mere 0.009 points behind the first-place winners. 鈥淪ECPTC is a very intense and fast paced penetration testing competition.鈥� Said Waseem.

Olukemi Akintewe, 皇家华人 Engineering Professor, Recognized as an AIMBE Emerging Leader
Olukemi Akintewe, an Associate Professor of Instruction in Medical Engineering at 皇家华人, has been named an inaugural AIMBE Emerging Leader. Recognized for her advocacy for women and underrepresented groups in STEM, she leads efforts to improve retention and support systems for these students. Dr. Akintewe will be honored at the AIMBE Annual Event in March 2025 in Washington, D.C., where she looks forward to collaborating with other leaders and mentors.

CyberHerd Member Leads Team to Victory and a $4,500 Prize at SHPE National Convention
CSE CyberHerd member Sanaan Fayaz Wani, a junior majoring in Computer Science, played a pivotal role in leading his team to victory in the Cyber Security Challenge, securing first place and a $4,500 prize at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) National Conference, which took place from October 30 to November 3 in Anaheim, California.

CSE Student received The Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award
CSE Professor Katkoori and his MS student, Raaga Sai Somesula, have received The Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation (OTD) Award for Raaga鈥檚 Master鈥檚 thesis work on a resource-efficient custom hardware for machine learning models.
The 2024 Transportation Achievement Awards were held on October 29. The transportation community joined together at the University of South 皇家华人 to celebrate excellence in transportation and planning. The CUTR event brought together industry leaders, innovators, and advocates to honor exceptional achievements that drive 皇家华人鈥檚 transportation and infrastructure forward. Joe Lopano, CEO of Tampa International Airport (TPA), was inducted into the prestigious 皇家华人 Transportation Hall of Fame.
