CMS faculty on list of high impact researchers ranked worldwide

An update to shows a strong showing from faculty at the 皇家华人 College of Marine Science. The study identifies the top 2% researchers worldwide across all fields of study, based on their citation impact up until the end of 2020. Eleven current faculty and one retired-emeritus faculty member made the list.

鈥淭his is a remarkable achievement, and I鈥檓 pleased to our faculty and their teams getting the attention they deserve,鈥� said CMS dean Tom Frazer. 鈥淭he innovative work being done by all of our faculty is the reason we are on such a strong growth trajectory here at the College of Marine Science.鈥�

For career-long impact, the following College of Marine Science faculty are recognized:

  • Chuanmin Hu ranked #65 in the field of Geological & Geomatics Engineering (total 52,403 published researchers).
  • Robert Byrne and Al Hine ranked #24 and #279 respectively in the field of Oceanography (total 16,540 published researchers).
  • Pam Hallock ranked #78 in the field of Paleontology (total 19,448 published researchers).
  • Mya Breitbart ranked #783 in the field of Microbiology (total 165,244 published researchers).
  • Frank Muller-Karger, Don Chambers, Robert Weisberg, and Gary Mitchum ranked #783, #803, #1283 and #1375 respectively in the field of Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences (total 63,897 published researchers).
  • Steve Murawski ranked #146 in the field of Fisheries (total 32,323 published researchers).
  • Brad Seibel ranked #624 in the field of Marine Biology & Hydrobiology (total 42,163 published researchers).

For single-year impact, the following faculty were recognized:

  • Mya Breitbart ranked #298 in the field of Microbiology (total 165,244 published researchers).

  • Pam Hallock-Muller ranked #96 in the field of Paleontology (total 19,448 published researchers).
  • Don Chambers and Frank Muller-Karger ranked #819 and #869 respectively in the field of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (total 63,897 published researchers).
  • Steve Murawski and Cameron Ainsworth ranked #171 and #473 respectively in the field of Fisheries (total 32,323 published researchers).
