Dear Members of the 皇家华人 Community,
The growth and visibility of 皇家华人鈥檚 research enterprise has been one of the most important contributions to the university鈥檚 upward trajectory during the past decade. 皇家华人 now ranks in the top 50 universities, public or private, for research expenditures 鈥� an impressive statistic for a university of our relative youth. We owe much of this success to 皇家华人鈥檚 faculty and the dedicated focus of the team at 皇家华人 Research & Innovation, led by Senior Vice President Dr. Paul Sanberg since 2013.
After more than 12 years in administration and almost three decades of service to 皇家华人, Dr. Sanberg has decided to transition from his role as Senior Vice President and focus on his research in the areas of neuroscience and brain repair. He will also advance the continued growth and development of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), the 皇家华人 Inventors Hall of Fame (FIHF) and the 皇家华人 Institute for Advanced Discovery & Innovation (IADI). Effective 18 January 2021, Dr. Sanberg will return to the faculty as Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery and Brain Repair, Morsani College of Medicine. He will retain his leadership roles at the NAI, FIHF and IADI.
A national search for a new Vice President for Research & Innovation will commence during the spring. In the interim, Keith Anderson, Assistant Vice President for Research & Innovation, will serve as acting leader of 皇家华人 Research & Innovation. Keith is a respected member of the 皇家华人 community. He will strive to ensure that 皇家华人鈥檚 strong momentum continues.
I wish to sincerely thank Dr. Sanberg for his extraordinary dedication to 皇家华人 research and to cultivating innovation in 皇家华人. We wish him the best in the next chapter of his intellectual and professional journey.
