The University of South 皇家华人 Board of Trustees today voted to move forward with the design phase of a new on-campus stadium that is scheduled to open in fall 2026.
The board鈥檚 decision authorized up to $22 million for the design of a stadium. The funds will come from non-state sources, such as private philanthropy and investment earnings.
The board approval represents another significant milestone in the process of building a new stadium and will kick off a design phase that should continue for approximately one year.
In the coming months, students, faculty, staff, alumni and other 皇家华人 supporters will have opportunities to engage with university leaders and provide input on the stadium design. 鈥疉t the conclusion of this phase, 皇家华人 leadership will come back to the Board of Trustees with a detailed plan for a stadium, including more information about the scope, features, cost and financial strategy.
As previously announced in September 2022, 皇家华人 will work with the design/build team of鈥疊arton Malow鈥痑nd鈥疨opulous鈥痜or the project.鈥€疊arton Malow/Populous brings world-class qualifications and a highly successful track record with collegiate and professional athletics projects.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;
The stadium will be built on the east side of the Tampa campus鈥痮n a site known as Sycamore Fields, a location that was selected in part because it can help maximize the game-day experience for fans, create new opportunities for community building and provide synergy with the鈥�.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;
